Setting the Course: Discipline, Safety, and Adventure
Following a smooth registration and documentation process on June 5, the camp formally kicked off on June 6, 2026, with a powerful opening address by Camp Commandant Col Vivek Bhatara.
Welcoming the cadets to the pristine hills of Himachal, Col Bhatara briefed the participants on the upcoming schedule and core objectives of the expedition. He laid strong emphasis on maintaining strict discipline, prioritizing safety, fostering robust teamwork, and embracing the true spirit of adventure.
“This expedition is not just about traversing challenging terrains, but about building lifelong bonds, self-reliance, and discovering your true leadership potential,” noted Col Bhatara during his address.
Testing Endurance on the Slopes
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the cadets put their endurance to the test during the challenging Dumher Trek. Navigating the rugged local trails, the cadets soaked in the natural beauty of the region while sharpening their confidence, physical stamina, and team-building skills.
The high-octane day wrapped up on a lighter, more collaborative note. The evening featured a mix of sports, recreational games, and a vibrant cultural program. This allowed cadets from different states to shed their regional boundaries, interact closely, and showcase their diverse talents.
Over the next week, Himtrek 2026 will continue to push boundaries, aiming to instill a deep sense of adventure, leadership, and national integration among India’s future women leaders.
